1. What does priming my coil actually mean?
Think of priming as preparing your coil for its first vape. You drip a little e-liquid directly onto the cotton before using it, so it’s fully soaked. Without priming, the cotton burns instantly, leaving you with a harsh, burnt taste.
2. What’s the difference between all the branded coils?
Each brand makes coils to fit their own devices they’re not interchangeable. For example, Smok Nord coils won’t fit a Voopoo Drag. Some use mesh for stronger flavour; others use round wire for longer life. The real difference comes down to fit, resistance, and how you want to vape: smooth MTL draws or big DTL clouds.
3. How much should I be spending on coils as a beginner?
Most people go through 2–4 coils a month. At a few pounds each, that’s roughly the price of a takeaway coffee per week. Multi-packs bring the cost down, while pods with built-in coils are slightly more expensive but easier to swap.
4. Do I need different coils for Nic Salts and High VG liquids?
Yes. Nic salts and 50/50 liquids like higher resistance coils (1.0Ω or above) for a smoother, cigarette-style draw. High VG liquids need lower resistance coils (below 0.6Ω) usually mesh to handle the thicker juice and make big clouds.
